For now, we are staying with this color. I am going to do one more coat. Since we were painting on walls that were not textured, with wall paper freshly ripped off that took the top layer of the gypboard with it, the paint did very weird things. We primed the walls and added a pour in texture to the paint but it is still streaky and uneven b/c the walls are just absorbing to much of the paint.
And to think, there are two bathrooms and an entryway with wallpaper and boarders to rip down and re-do. The master bathroom is the best. It has some sort of gold-ish French scroll boarder with French script wall-paper. The best part....the wall paper was put on crooked. All of it.
Unfortunately, I don't have a true "before" picture of the dining area. It was covered in the wall paper that is under the pottery boarder so use your imagination.
I think you might be able to tell how neon it was on the first coat in this picture. I put two small samples of it on the wall to the right of Levi.
Dad's with daughters have to endure such torture. Those were the only Bandaids I had for his boo-boo. What's funny is he is so use to it he didn't even say anything.
This was the second layer of wall-paper. I'd venture to say late 80's to early 90's. What do you think? There was a 3rd layer but it had been primed over so it was very hard to see but it was so 70's. Big green leaves.
Here is the first after. We removed the blinds b/c they were just ugly. We will be replacing them with a nicer type of blind. I also have fabric to make some 50's inspired curtains with a modern twist.
Notice the large unused area behind the half-wall? We will be putting in a children's table and chairs for crafts and extra eating space for the kiddos when we have company. Our cabin in Colorado had that and it was perfect.
Excuse the junk on the floor and door. I get to that. I'm sure I will.
Yes, there is an unsightly black cord above the sink. I forgot to tell Levi to paint it. I think we will just rip it all out b/c that light (directly above the sink) doesn't work.
My plates! I've been collecting these from Anthropologie and I love them. I have to get 4 more easels from the Wall-dogs to put the others up...check them out:
I had to include a close-up of the windowsill above the sink. This is all stuff I use and I just thought they were too cute to put in a cabinet. The "flowers" are from Mia and Jules on Mother's Day.
Isn't this rock-salt SO cute. Seriously, if they would make everything this cute....I might find a new joy for grocery shopping.
The kitchen in all it's glory. This will be the first room to be re-modeled for obvious space planning issues. We just painted to make it easier to bare until the re-model. This space has so much more potential! Good thing Levi is an architect. I also will fill the space above the cabinet with some cute things and de-clutter and and and. Yeah, I could go on and on.
I plan on using black as an accent color for the kitchen so you can kind of see that here with my shirt against the green wall. In this picture the green (on my computer screen) is more of what I was going for but it doesn't look like this in real life.
Side Note: My husband and girls tell me often "Uh, your hair is kind of messed up." Really? Where? "Like, here and here and here and here". Um, thanks fam. But that would be out of my control on days where the humidity is 100%. In fact, it's also out of the control of my super-duper maximum hold could single handedly kill 2/3 of the ozone layer hairspray. But I appreciate your concern for my unruly hair.

I LIKE the green!!!! Black/white will look fabulous with that.
About the paint soaking in..... have you thought about doing some sort of plaster texture before you paint? Like maybe Venetian plaster...? I know that stuff's pricey and would add another month of steps to your process, but looks really good!
I think the color is great!
I like it! I can't wait to see what all you decorate with :)
Better feedback than I expected! Are y'all just being nice?
Melissa, Levi wanted to do something like that but our remodel will take place in about a year so we are going to wait and do it then. We've never done it before..have you? We will need tips.
You have this interior designer's approval. I love it! I really like the way the green contrasts with the white along the bottom of the wall. The picture with the window, table and beautiful Eames chairs really makes the green look great.
it looks so bright and breezy. i think with the curtains and the plates it will be so nice and refreshing. Add a bowl of lemons and limes on the table and a chalkboard above the kids table. I think it makes the kitchen cabinets look much whiter. I think you will be very happy with it when you get it decorated. i'm going to aaron brothers this evening to try and find a frame for a chalkboard for my kitchen. good job, keep painting. i love how color makes me happy!
I love it! and the plates!
and YES any advice Melissa gives about remodeling....TAKE IT! she's a pro. :)
mattie requested butterflies and the use of puff paint:) on her painting....
I like messy hair, you know I do!
I liked the green in person too. I thought it went so well with the black and white too.
The plates are so cool and so is your vintage fabric for curtains.
That picture of your table with the green behind it and the window...very magazine-y
Wow, that was a lot of work! But it looks fabulous via camera. So modern and fun. I think you guys did a fantastic job. Best wishes on your next endeavor.
