Sneak Peak & a Sub-Par Tutorial.

***Become a follower and be automatically entered to win in my upcoming give-aways***

As you all may remember last month I set a goal to finish the girls' room. Well, it didn't happen but not b/c I didn't make an effort or want to. The deal is, I can't function in freezing temperatures in my house. My hands have been next to numb and I gave myself a pass until it gets warmer.

But, it's 85% done.

I am giving you a sneak peak, though! I know you are on the edge of your seat.

I made this groovy little canvas in a SNAP, and you can to:

I really need to take a photography class. I swear, I could not get it right with that canvas. But you get the gist, I think. The colors are not quite as harsh as they appear in the pictures.

It's just a cheap canvas from Michael's with a base coat of paint in my color choice (linen), coordinating scrap book paper cut up into free handed circles, mod-podged on to the canvas, then roughly outlined in different colors of slick paint.

Before I did the slick paint and after I got all of the circles secure I gave it two or three coats of *Mod-Podge.

It was a very fun project b/c it is supposed to be messy. I left all the bumps and mess-ups from the slick paint. I think this would be a great project for an older child to make their own art work for their bedroom. The slick paint is the only part that might be tricky but with some help from mom or dad it could be a really fun thing to do.

If you like this Mod Podge project then you need to check out what I did for Mia's arts and craft b-day party...it was awesome! Click HERE.

*Please note that Mod Podge comes in different finishes like glossy, matte, satin. Be sure to check before you buy so you get the finish you prefer.

That is really cute. But what is slick paint? This would be awesome for my granddaughter's new bedroom.

Thanks! It comes in a squeeze type bottle with a very fine tip and dries very shiny. It's used for adding detail. I think the most popular brand is Tulip. It can be a little tricky b/c it get's air bubbles and can sputter but I liked the effect for this project.

I would practice with it first.

You did a fantastic job! Connie you are so creative. This idea fits perfect with Mijo's circle bedding. Maybe someday I will have the guts to give it a whirl. You've got super mom status!

This looks great. I am planning our baby's nursery right now, and I can tell you that people would pay high dollar for this kind of thing.

I LOVE IT! it turned out so good. You should link it up to some of the linky parties so lots of people can be inspired. (check out my design blog to get the links- just just posted them at the bottom of my kitchen post.)

Amy, I wish someone would pay me BIG bucks! I thought about putting some on etsy but I don't know how to make it cost effective shipping wise. I need to take a canvas up to the Post Office and find out just exactly how much it would cost to ship and also the best method. But I'm too lazy for that.

Catherine...I looked at your blog but I don't know how to "link-up" to anything! I'm slow...

I love it! I'm in the midst of 're-doing' the kids playroom, and that would look wonderful on the wall!
Your blog is awesome! I had quite a few chuckles while reading some of your posts yesterday. I have my own 'Jules' named Emerson. The defiant, strong-willed 3 year old. Exact same battles; only the pink princess cutlery, NO PANTS - only skirts and dresses, chocolate seems to be in all of the food groups...ahhh it goes on and on doesn't it?!

Thanks for your blog!

Fantastic! I'm bookmarking this for my daughter's room. I think I can do the same thing with fabric instead of craft paper... I love slick paint, though!
